Intramural volleyball is a great way to stay active and continue your sports journey after high school. Whether you are a seasoned volleyball player, or have never touched a ball in your life, you’re more than welcome to join. You’ll make so many new friends from the team you’re placed on, and because everyone is a UNC student (even your opponents) you’ll meet even more people and make more friends. It is a great way to get away from all the pressure and stress of being a student at UNC, and allows you to take some time to do something fun and energizing.Aside from having fun and relaxing, intramural volleyball can also help you to improve your volleyball skills, or if you’ve never played before, then it can help you learn some skills. It offers a non-judgmental environment where you can practice and improve your skills, and there is a wide variety of different skill levels on the teams, so you can help each other and provide feedback in order to help everyone improve. The best practice is experience, you will get to gain valuable knowledge and experience about the game and the skills needed for it while playing in real game situations.One of the main benefits of playing an intramural sport is the opportunity and ability to stay active and fit, but still have fun. Volleyball is very fast paced and can be physically demanding that requires its players to move quickly, jump high, and use your teamwork skills to work with your teammates and decide what plays you’re going to use, and how you are going to go about the game in order to win. Participating in intramural volleyball, whether it is sand or regular volleyball, you can improve your cardiovascular health and fitness, agility, coordination, and you get to do it all while participating and enjoying a fun social activity with your friends and fellow UNC students.It’s important to study and keep up with your homework assignments, but it is also important to take breaks every once in a while, in order to refresh your brain, and get some of your energy back. Intramural volleyball is a great way to do this. Taking an active study break, where you are doing something engaging and active can help you even more when you go back to studying because your brain is doing something and working in a completely different way when you’re studying vs. when you are trying to figure out how to get a ball over the net. Doing something active, like playing volleyball can increase your brain function by making you more alert and attentive, besides it gives you a nice change in location which can give you a sense of calmness and help you fight the boredom of studying.
